New Moon, the upcoming sequel to last year's massive hit Twilight, gets an original score by French composer Alexandre Desplat. The assignment of the Curious Case of Benjamin Button composer has been confirmed to Upcoming Film Scores by Desplat's manager. This means that Carter Burwell, whose 'Bella's Lullaby' became an immediate success with Twilight fans, does not return to the sequel. The reason is that New Moon director Chris Weitz already has an ongoing working relationship with Desplat who scored his fantasy epic The Golden Compass. Desplat's other previous films include The Queen, Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium and Lust, Caution. The Twilight Saga: New Moon will hit theatres on November 20.

Very good news.
I agree. An incredibly inspiring composer.
what no balla,s lubbey nnnnnnnnnoooooooooo good composer
so goodies
how can they cut out bella's lullaby if its on the cd edward makes bella for her birthday?
and he plays it for her coming home in breaking dawn?
or is it just not on the soundtrack.....
"This means that Carter Burwell, whose 'Bella's Lullaby' became an immediate success with Twilight fans, does not return to the sequel" - Carter Burwell is the one not appearing in the sequel. Bella's lullaby probably will though, so don't worry. If they'd have changed bella's lullaby, I would however worry for Weitz sake...
They need Bella's Lullaby in here!!! NO!!! Carter Burwell, ur music rocks!! I love your score and Bella's Lullaby!! They better leave it in!! I love it!! New Moon will suck without it!!!
i like this composer
I'm very disappointed. No matter how good Alexandre Desplat is, Carter Burwell did something extraordinary with the first movie providing such a strange, bittersweet atmosphere I fell in love with the movie for.
I believe Alexandre Desplat is extremely capable of doing something even more beautiful and amazing for this series, bringing it to an epic level! Though Carter Burwell definitely will always be a beloved and super talented "underdog" that never gets the recognition his genius deserves! (his score and lullaby, fit the 1st twilight film like a perfect satin glove.
in oppinion, bellas lullaly by c. burwell is... not good. it is bad an completly different to the discription of meyers. besides i don´t like the complete score very much. i´m very happy with a. desplat as new "sound". I like his styl.
I know this is going in late, but seriously, Carter Burwell did one thing very well -- he created a soft, tranquil, very "Twilight" esque love theme for Bella and Edward. The rest of his score, however, was lackluster and very bland and generic, relying more on ambiance than on actual scoring power.
From what little I've heard of Desplat's work, he has no such hangups. As I've just bought a copy of the (AMAZING) "New Moon" soundtrack, I've had the unequable pleasure of listening to "New Moon (The Meadow)" by Desplat, which is an absolutely awe-inspiring piano piece that instantly told me that Burwell was replaced by someone with real talent. I can't wait for Desplat's "New Moon" score album to come out, and I hope that they continue to use this highly talented composer for "Eclipse."
