John Debney is the new composer attached to Disney's theatrical version of Hannah Montana, based on the popular TV series. Alan Silvestri, who was originally signed to score the picture, had to pass on the picture, due to conflicting schedules. Hannah Montana: The Movie is directed by Peter Chelsom (Shall We Dance, Serendipity) and stars Miley Cyrus, Emily Osment and Jason Earles. The film is scheduled to hit cinemas on April 10. John Debney's other upcoming films include Old Dogs (also for Disney) and the Fox sci-fi adventure They Came from Upstairs.

Damn. I was looking forward to having Alan Silvestri and Miley Cyrus on the same album. Still, knowing Debney he'll have the score done in the time it takes to say "Hannah Montana."
This is really a pity! It would have been great to have Silvestri return to the genre of (romantic) comedy. Well, let´s see what Debney delivers...
