Christopher Young: A Tale of Two Sisters

Christopher Young has been hired to score another Hollywood remake of an Asian horror film, the multiple award-winning South Korean 2003 film A Tale of Two Sisters, which was directed by Ji-woon Kim. The US version is directed by Charles and Thomas Guard and produced by Dreamworks. Cast members include Elizabeth Banks, Arielle Kebbel, Emily Browning and David Strathairn. Christopher Young, who scored last year's number one movie at the US box office, Spider-Man 3, has recently scored thrillers Untraceable and Sleepwalking. The original version of A Tale of Two Sisters featured a score by Byung-woo Lee.

Tyler Bates: The Day the Earth Stood Still

20th Century Fox today confirmed to Upcoming Film Scores / Film Music Weekly that Tyler Bates (300, Dawn of the Dead, The Devil's Rejects) has been engaged to compose the original score for the studio's remake of the 1951 sci-fi classic The Day the Earth Stood Still. Keanu Reeves, Jennifer Connelly and Jon Hamm stars in the film, which is directed by Scott Derrickson, whose latest feature was horror film The Exorcism of Emily Rose. Erwin Stoff and Paul Harris Boardman are producing. Shooting began on December 12 and is expected to premiere in December. The 1951 version of the film was directed by Robert Wise and featured a groundbreaking score by Bernard Herrmann.

Lyle Workman: Forgetting Sarah Marshall

Lyle Workman, who got his big break in the film music business in 2007 with his score for Superbad, is doing the music for Forgetting Sarah Marshall, the upcoming romantic comedy starring Bill Hader, Jonah Hill, Kristen Bell, Mila Kunis, Paul Rudd and Jason Segel. Nicholas Stoller, who wrote Fun with Dick and Jane, directs and Universal will release on May 30. Workman, who is represented by First Artists, also did the music for The 40 Year Old Virgin and is an accomplished guitarist who has performed with Sting, Beck and Todd Rundgren.

Trevor Horn: Kids in America

Trevor Horn, the legendary music producer who worked extensively with Hans Zimmer and with Anne Dudley in the group Art of Noise, has been hired to compose the music for Kids in America, according to Universal Pictures. Although Horn has contributed his talents to the film industry in many different ways, primarily as a songwriter and producer, he has only written one major full score before, to Coyote Ugly in 2000. Kids in America is a Breakfast Club style drama comedy directed by It's All Gone Pete Tong helmer MIchael Dowse and it stars Topher Grace, Anna Faris, Dan Fogler, Michelle Trachtenberg and Michael Biehn.

Craig Wedren: Little Big Men

Little Big Men, a comedy about two guys who are forced to enroll in a Big Brother program, will get an original score by Craig Wedren. The film is directed by David Wain, who previously worked with Wedren on The Ten. Featured in Little Big Men are Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Elizabeth Banks, Paul Rudd, Seann William Scott, Jane Lynch and Joe Lo Truglio, and the film is produced by New Regency and will be released by Universal later this year. Craig Wedren's other previous film scores include The School of Rock, Reno 911: Miami and Wet Hot American Summer.
