Due to a scheduling conflict, Gabriel Yared has left scoring duties on Mikael Håfström's Shanghai. The new composer on the project is Alex Heffes, whose previous credits include The Last King of Scotland and Tim Burton's Sweeney Todd, where he wrote additional score music to accompany the Stephen Sondheim musical. Produced by Phoenix Pictures for release by The Weinstein Company next year, Shanghai takes place in the 1940s and stars John Cusack, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Yun-Fat Chow, Li Gong and Ken Watanabe. The studio has moved the release of Shanghai into the 2008 awards race and will release the film on December 25.
