Alexandre Desplat: Cheri

French composer Alexandre Desplat is once again working for British director Stephen Frears. His score for Frears' The Queen resulted in an Oscar nomination and numerous other awards and nominations. Their new film is called Cheri, and given the composer's country of origin the story should fit like a glove: it's a romantic drama set in Paris in the 1920s. Starring Michelle Pfeiffer, Kathy Bates and Rupert Friend, the film is based on a controversial novel by Colette. Miramax and Pathe will distribute, release date to be determined. Alexandre Desplat's other upcoming films include David Fincher's The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and French action adventure Largo Winch.

Sessions for Cheri completed today at Abbey Rd Studios with the London Symphony orchestra. Sounded great.
