Disney's latest Pixar movie, the eagerly anticipated Wall-E, premieres this week but the big Pixar news, in terms of film scoring, has to do with the studio's next major feature: Up. Walt Disney Studios today confirmed to Upcoming Film Scores that Michael Giacchino, who scored The Incredibles and Ratatouille, has been signed to compose the score for Up. The film is directed by Pete Docter (who helmed of Monsters Inc.) and Bob Peterson (who has been involved in most Pixar's films primarily as a writer). Up is described as a "coming of old age" story about a hero who is in his seventies (!) and travels around the globe to fight beasts and villains. This is Pixar's 10th feature film and it is scheduled to premiere on May 29, 2009. Michael Giacchino's other upcoming films include Star Trek and Land of the Lost.

Great news! In fact I was hoping for a new composer for Pixar, but Giacchino is one of my favorites ones, so I think it's a wonderful choice.
Mike GO GO GO! :)
Die beste Entscheidung !!! Ich freue mich riesig !! :)
This has made my day! :)
THATS SO GREAT! And I just watched the trailer for the movie and this score is playing in the background, wonder if it's Michael Giacchinos work!? I hope so, it sounds good!
Nice. But where is Giacchino's Lost Season 4 Soundtrack... didn't released yet :(
