John Swihart, who is best known for the music he's written for comedies such as Napoleon Dynamite, Employee of the Month and The Brothers Solomon, has been hired to score The Longshots for Cube Vision and Dimension Films. The film stars Ice Cube, Keke Palmer and Tasha Smith and tells the true story of Jasmine Plummer who was the first female to play in the Pop Warner football tournament, at the age of eleven. Fred Durst, who worked with Swihart on last year's The Education of Charlie Banks, directs. Film is scheduled to be released on July 25. Swihart's other recent scores include The Year of Getting to Know Us and Garden Party.
